The Handbook for Life!

I firmly believe that, “The Bible is the Handbook for Life”.

I firmly believe that there is no other book in existence that can change a person except the Bible.

I firmly believe that the #1 way God talks to us is through His written word.

God said He has a plan for your life: Ephesians 2:10 - We are His workmanship and He has a plan for us.

It is a sad true fact that less than 40% of people who call themselves Christians DO NOT read their Bibles regularly.

But this is not a surprise because:

Amos 8:11

“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign LORD,

“when I will send a famine through the land—

not a famine of food or a thirst for water,

but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.”

We have NO excuse for not reading His word. Every home has at least 2-3 Bibles in it and it is all over the internet!

When we come to grips with the fact that everything we need for living a successful life is within these pages then and only then will we truly begin to live a life God has called us to!

2 Peter 1:3-4

3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Key to 2 Peter - You believe and you will receive what God has for you. There is nothing outside the scope of God!

Let’s look a little deeper at what the Bible says about the Bible.

The Bible is a living word.

Hebrews 4:12

12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any doubleedged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The Book of Revelation states that even if we do not understand what we are reading it is still washing us from the inside out. Darkness and light cannot occupy the same place at the same time.

John 1:1-5

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.

3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

This WORD means Logos which is a spoken word in the Greek.

See the transition in these verses: In the beginning was The Word, The Word was with God, and The Word was God, (Here is the switch) He was with God in the beginning. (the word is living, it’s a living word)

John 1:14

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Lets talk about how to let it change our lives. The Bible will change you from the inside out. So this means you have to get it inside of you some how.

The only way to get the Bible to change you from the inside out is to read it.

The Psalmist David tells us this very thing:

Psalm 119:9-11

9How can a young man keep his way pure?

By living according to your word.

10I seek you with all my heart;(Prayer)

do not let me stray from your commands.

11I have hidden your word in my heart (read it to get there)

that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 51:6

  6Surely you desire truth in the inner parts;

you teach  me wisdom in the inmost place.

How does it get to the inner most parts? Reading the Word!

God makes a promise/warning to us:

Luke 21:33

33Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

This book has everything you need for life in it. The reason you do not have is because you do not seek and ask.

I want to encourage you all to read the Bible daily and make it a habit to seek God for the things in life that He has for you.

Isa. 55:11

11so is my word that goes out from my mouth:

It will not return to me empty,

but will accomplish what I desire

and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Won’t you put God to work in your life? Pray his words back to Him, read his word and let it read you. Let it change you from the inside out.
